"Friends Show Up!"
“Do not be interested only in your own life, but be interested in the lives of other.” Philippians 2: 4 NCV
Do you want to build a friendship? You have to invest time and energy. Deep friendships are not something that happen accidentally. They aren’t instantly started; they are not cheap.
Friendships happen because we intentionally seek to create them. They are a choice we make to partner with people. When you find one and develop it, it is a rare gem and a great gift.
Look at our verse for the day. Practice what it says for the next two months you’ll find that you’ll make friends. When you tell people about yourself what inevitably happens is they eventually walk away. When you listen to them they hang around for a long time.
But here’s a clue to be a friend: you have to be present. You have to show up! Physical presence is essential to having a long term, deep friendship instead of an acquaintance.
It’s nice when people say, “I’ll be with you in spirit,” but what they really mean is they’re not going to be with you. No one can send their spirit to be somewhere else. Friends show up. They’re present and they stick with you through thick and thin.
Peace in the Lord,
