"Don't Live with Guilt, Regret or Shame!"
“Christ loved the Church and gave Himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the Word.” Ephesians 5: 25 – 26 NIV
Too many people are caught up in guilt, regret or shame. It’s a sad way to live. God doesn’t want you to live that way. He wants you to be free.
That’s one reason why He gave us His Word. It eradicates our guilt, takes away our regret and frees us from shame. That’s Good News, isn’t it?
I’m not boasting here. As a pastor I’ve had people come up to me and tell me that something I shared changed their lives. It really wasn’t me, but the Word I spoke. It freed them from guilt, regret or shame that they had carried all their lives.
In His Word God gives us a very simple formula to get rid of those things: “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
(1 John 1: 9)
You might call this the soap dish verse. God says He’ll give you a bath, get rid of the dirt in your life, forgive you and wipe away your sins. And it won’t cost you a cent!
Couple that with Paul’s words in Romans 8: 1, “There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” So if you are living with guilt, regret or shame realize that it is not Jesus holding them against you. He paid for those sins; they are gone.
God’s Word cleanses my dirt; cleans up my mind and washes my body. It gets all the dirt, junk, grime, grit, shame and sin out of my life. He does that because of His great love for me.
He does the same for you for the very same reason.
Peace in the Lord,
