"Surrender: The Only Way to Live"
“Though He was God, did not demand and cling to His rights as God, but laid aside His mighty power and glory, taking the disguise of a slave and becoming like men.” Philippians 2: 6 – 7 LB
We all surrender. The question is to whom or what do we surrender? It will either be to God or to popular opinion, money, resentment, fear or your own pride, lust or ego.
God designed you for worship. You are either worshiping Him or creating false Gods. It’s your choice; you are free to make the decision. But also remember that you will suffer the consequences of that choice.
Surrender is not the best way to live; it’s the only way to live. Nothing else works. All other approaches lead to frustration, disappointment and self-destruction.
Surrender is not a foolish emotional impulse, but rather a rational, intelligent decision. Your wisest moment will be when you say “Yes” to God: “So we make it our goal to please Him.” 2 Corinthians 5: 9a NIV
Don’t worry if it feels that it’s taking you a long time to do this. For most of us it takes us years. We are stubborn, prideful and full of personal ambition.
When we focus on ourselves we are taking the focus away from God. So when you face a problem remember that it may very well be God working His deepest work in you. He is seeking to call you back to Him.
When you surrender to God you’re giving Him all those things in your past that you regret. You’re putting Jesus in the driver’s seat and taking your hands off the steering wheel. Don’t be afraid for nothing under His control can ever be out of control.
Are you worried, “What if I stumble or relapse?” It’s not an if I stumble, it’s a when. We all stumble; we all relapse. The Good News is that Jesus is sitting right there, next to His Father, to plead your case for you and lift you up.
Peace in the Lord,
