"You are a Significant Part
of the Body of Christ"
“Just as there are many parts to our bodies, so it is with Christ’s body. We are all parts of it, and it takes every one of us to make it complete, for we each have different work to do. So we belong to each other, and each needs all the others.” Romans 12; 4 – 5 TLB
Paul likes to describe the Church as the body of Christ. It is a body that carries on the physical work that Jesus did when He was on earth. Everybody is needed in the body of Christ. We are all parts of it, and it takes every one of us to make it complete.
It’s kind of like a jig saw puzzle. One night our grandchildren were putting one together and Oona had held onto one of the pieces. It was frustrating to get to the end of the puzzle and have a missing piece. Finally, she produced it and the puzzle was complete.
That’s the way it is in the body of Christ. Each part is very specific to its work but all the parts are specific to how the body works. There are some parts that may seem to be less important but do you really want to live without any part of your body? Perhaps there’s a part of your body that is prominent.
In the Muller clan it’s noses. The truth of the matter is I could live without a nose. It’s prominent but not significant. But there’s a lot of stuff inside of me that nobody sees like my heart, liver, lungs and such. They may not be prominent but, boy are they significant.
You may not feel prominent in the body of Christ, but you are significant. There are many parts but everybody is needed. We all have work to do!
