"Just as If You'd Never Sinned"

“Let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God.  There we will receive His mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.”  Hebrews 4: 16 NLT

You don’t have to be hesitant or shy about coming to God for forgiveness.  That’s the business He’s in.  He wants you to seek Him at the throne of grace.  He’s not there to scold or punish you, but to welcome you.  When you come in confession He gets to do the best thing for you that He can do, forgive you.

When you come to God with your sins, you receive His mercy and find His grace.  Now what’s the difference between mercy and grace?  Mercy is forgiveness for all the things you’ve done in the past.  Grace is the power to change it in the future.  You want and need both.

Don’t come to God telling Him you’d like to make a bargain or prepared to bribe Him.  You also don’t need to beg Him.  He’s more than willing to forgive you.  You see, He wants you to be justified, which means it’s just as if you haven’t sinned.

Wouldn’t you like to have a heart that’s washed clean?  No matter how deep the stain of sin, God can take it out.

Peace in the Lord,

Pastor Don
