"Jesus Paid for It All!"
“Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the Word.” Ephesians 5; 25 – 26 NIV
This may seem like a new message to you. God doesn’t want you to live with guilt, regret or shame any more. Too many people get stuck in those memories from their past and can’t get over them. God’s desire is that you be free. He gave us the Bible so that we would know that.
I don’t think there’s a pastor who hasn’t heard someone, at one point or another, say that they can’t be forgiven for what they’ve done. Although they know God loves them they wrongly believe He cannot forgive them.
God clearly says in 1 John 1: 9: “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” In confessing He washes us clean, gets rid of the dirt in our life, forgives us and wipes away all our sins.
If that's not enough, it gets better than that. In Romans 8:1 Paul tells us that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ. God can do that because He has washed us in the blood of Jesus Christ, who paid for all of our sins.
We are no longer covered with the gunk of sin but rather with Christ’s righteousness. He has washed us “with water through the Word,” just as He says in our verse for today.
You don’t need to be afraid to look God in the face. He loves you and has redeemed you from anything that might separate you from Him.
Peace in the Lord,
