"Put God First in Your Finances
Through Tithing"

“Seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”  Matthew 6: 33 NIV

Whatever you want God to bless in your life, put Him first in that area.  If you want God to bless your business, put Him first in that business.  Bless your marriage?  Put Him first in your marriage.  Whatever it is you want God to bless in your life, make that the first thing you come to God for.

Whatever you put God first in, that’s what He blesses.  The first place He asks you to put Him first is in your giving.  God set an amount for you to give, 10%.  How are you doing?  The second area God wants you to give Him is our own savings.

Perhaps you’ve heard the illustration of the two jars where people put 10% in for God and 10% in to save.  If you did both of those things beginning at age 40 and you earned $60,000 a year, over the course of 20 years, you will have given $120,000 to God’s purposes.

You would have invested $120,000 and, with compounding, have a lot more.  A looming financial crisis for many people is they don’t have the resources to retire.  I recently read in the Daily Messenger that as many as 60% of people in the United States, if they had an emergency and needed $1,000, wouldn’t be able to come up with it.  God has a much better plan for us.

When we give and save we have the resources we need to take care of both.  You might say, “But Pastor, I don’t have enough money to give and save.”  The truth is you do.  You’re the one who decides how much you spend.  When you start off by giving and saving, you know you have 80% left to live on.  You just have to decide how you spend that 80%.

Yes, you’ll likely have to make changes at first.  Once you do that you’ll find out a lot about God and His plan.  I can introduce you to people who are doing it already and they have true peace and great prosperity because they have learned how to live God’s way.  I'll be glad to introduce you to them or we can talk.  Let me know

Peace in the Lord,

Pastor Don
