"Loving God is a Choice"
“Today I am giving you a choice between good and evil, between life and death.” Deuteronomy 30: 15 GNT
The world is broken; God is still in control. You may wonder why God just doesn’t shut the world down right now. The answer is He’s giving us a choice. He wants to see which we will choose.
You see, God didn’t create you to be a robot. He gave you the freedom to make moral choices. In fact, He thought so highly of you, He made you in His image. You’re not an animal that acts by instinct. You’re a human being with a conscience.
The reason He did that is so that you have the capacity to make a choice. He doesn’t want to force you to love Him. He wants you to choose to. Without choice it would not be true love.
Here’s the thing about that freedom of choice: you must be willing to live with the consequences of your choices. While you’re free to choose to do anything you want to do in your life, you’re not free from the consequences.
The consequences are part of the choice. You might know this already but there will come a day when you will have to explain to God why you made the choices you've made.
God wants you to use this time on earth to learn from His wisdom so that you can make wise choices. When you make poor choices, God extends His grace to you through Jesus Christ.
Here’s the good news: Jesus forgives you instantly, completely and freely.
Peace in the Lord,
