"The Power to Change"
“I know God is testing us to show us that we are merely animals.” Ecclesiastes 3: 18 CEV
The more you watch the news the more you hear about war, revolutions, natural disasters, criminal behavior and political division. It might lead you to think that the world’s pretty messed up!
Before you start feeling too prideful, your sin isn’t any better! Think of the lies and half-truths you’ve told, the pain you’ve caused and the good you’ve left undone.
It’s easy to look around at the consequences of sin and wonder why God lets it all continue. If God is all-powerful, why doesn’t He just stop sin before it gets ugly?
God gave us free will, the power to make a choice. He gave us a conscience to help us make that choice. He doesn’t stop us from sinning, so we’ll know how much we need Him.
That ability to know right from wrong is a gift from God. Without it, we’d behave just like the animals. Without God, life would be a disaster.
We need God and we need a Savior. If we didn’t need a Savior, God wouldn’t have wasted His time sending His Son. We all have areas of our lives where we live out those carnal desires.
God sent Jesus so that we don’t have to stay like that. You may think you can’t change on your own. You’re right! If you could have, you would have. But you can’t, so you won’t. You don’t have the power to change.
God does have that power to help you change. You need Him in your life!
Peace in the Lord,
