"Faith Surmounts the Highest Peaks"
“With God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26
Hilda, a stray calico, has become a legendary mountain climber for repeatedly scaling the Swiss Alps. In 1928, the adventuresome cat began tagging along with the climbers who trekked from the Swiss town of Kandersteg to the nearby mountain of Blumlisalphorn. Finally, she settled for a new home at the 9,000 foot level. It was a mountaineer club’s shelter where she was fed by a guard.
Not disposed to abiding on plateaus, Hilda believed she was capable of higher pursuits. One day she followed a group of climbers ascending to the 12,038 foot peak. To their amazement she accompanied the group all the way to the summit. At some points the climbers needed to carry her, but only because it was obvious she wanted to continue.
From that day onward, Hilda was known as Switzerland’s mountain climbing cat.
Insuperable heights can be achieved by God’s enablement. Through faith in him, exploits which might not be accomplished naturally can be accomplished supernaturally. Like Hilda, goal seekers may need help from fellow climbers when snowstorms strike and ascents are steep. But with God, no aspiration is im-paws-sible.
Paws for Prayers: Dear God, open my ears to hear and my heart to respond to your highest calls. Amen.
Peace in the Lord,
