"The Path to a Miracle Goes
Through Uncomfortable Territory!"
“Then the Lord spoke His word to Elijah, ‘Go to Zarephath in Sidon and live there. I have commanded a widow there to take care of you.’ So Elijah went to Zarephath.” 1 Kings 17: 8 – 10a NCV
When you’re scared to death and vulnerable, don’t know what you’re going to do or what’s going to happen, what do you do? You remember that the path to a miracle goes through uncomfortable territory.
Our verse for today tells us that God told Elijah to go to Zarephath in Sidon. That was a hundred mile journey through territory that belonged to King Ahab, who wanted Elijah killed. When he arrived he was going to be in a pagan community; protected by a widow. That’s a really great plan, God! Not!
Here’s a clue for you: miracles don’t happen when things are comfortable. They happen when things are uncomfortable. Elijah could have said to God, “There are three things wrong with your plan. It’s the wrong direction, location and protection.”
He didn’t say that. He obeyed. I can’t tell you that Elijah understood that the path to a miracle often takes you through uncomfortable territory, but he obeyed because he depended on God.
Miracles never happen in your comfort zone. You don’t need them then. You need a miracle when you’re on the edge, scared to death, insecure and could be knocked over at any moment.
So are you in an uncomfortable place? It could be financial, emotional, relational or physical. Are you a little nervous, on the edge or insecure? Congratulations, you could be on the path to a miracle! Just like Elijah, God wants you to obey so you can see His miracle at the end of the road.
Peace in the Lord,
