"Our Beliefs Determine Our Behavior"
“Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts.” Proverbs 4: 23 TEV
The Bible tells us there are three reasons why it matters what you believe.
1. What you think shapes your life.
You act according to your beliefs. When you want to change it has to begin from the inside, with your thoughts, rather than your actions.
2. If you have a faulty worldview, it’s going to cause all sorts of unnecessary problems in your life.
When you don’t have God’s truth and His worldview, you stumble all over yourself. When you pay attention to God’s revelation, you are blessed.
3. God wants you to be able to give an account for the hope that is in you.
God expects you to do more than know what you believe. He expects you to share it with others. Many people in the world don’t have a clue what they really believe, much less why they believe it.
Sometimes people may misunderstand why you take a stand. As a pastor I am sometimes questioned why I would commit to something or another. I know people sometimes wonder why I pull things out of the trash here at church.
Why do I do it? Taking care of the environment is an act of stewardship. That’s my worldview and it comes right out of the Bible. God said “take care of this planet.” I try to do that to the best of my ability.
Whether people show or realize it, our world is desperate to hear about something or someone they can believe in. Sometimes, it just takes being obedient and telling others about your worldview for them to hear the truth.
Peace in the Lord,
