"God says, 'I've Got This Great Life Planned for You'"
“Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever.” Psalm 23: 6 NLT
God is always telling us that He has this great life planned for us. He reminds us that in that life goodness and mercy will flow through it. But there’s even more to it than that.
David explains how God connects yesterday and today with tomorrow, when He says, “I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” Psalm 26: 6. In effect, David is telling us that we are all going to heaven if we believe in Jesus.
This message is so important that Paul will repeat it numerous times in His epistles. He reminds us that we are going to live together forever. However, it won’t be in these earthly bodies that we have right now.
So how long is forever? Forever says it right there. It will last for as long as God lasts; He is eternal. Some day your body is going to wear out. It doesn’t matter if you eat the best food in the world and exercise every day. You will grow old and die. You might even die young, which we always think of as a greater loss.
But no matter what happens to this body, you are going to live forever. The question is: Where will you live forever? Just in case you missed this point. There are only two locations for eternity: heaven or hell.
Why are Christians confident about the future? We are confident because God has told us our destination. Those who believe in Jesus Christ shall be saved. We will live in heaven; those who don’t, won’t!
We don’t want to doubt the Word of God so therefore we trust and obey even in the midst of difficult times.
Peace in the Lord,
