"Be Defined by Godly, Loving Commitments"
“Since everything around us is going to melt away, what Holy, Godly lives you should be living!” 2 Peter 3: 11 LB
Your commitments can develop you or they can destroy you. Either way, they will define you. You tell me what you’re committed to and I’ll tell you what you’ll be in 10 years.
It is at this very point of commitment that most people miss God’s purpose for their lives. We live in a commitment-adverse society. Everybody is waiting to see what might possibly happen and are unwilling to make the commitment to what God has in front of them.
Others make half-hearted commitments to competing values. That leads to frustration and mediocrity. Yet others make full commitment to worldly goals such as wealth or fame; often ending up disappointed and bitter.
So now we have to understand something. Every choice we make has eternal consequences. Because of that you’ll want to choose wisely.
Peter warns us in our verse for today that everything is going to melt away. In the light of that what are we doing to be Holy and Godly in our life right now?
As believers we should be defined by Godly, loving commitments. If we want to become more like Jesus, then we need to commit to the same things He did.
Peace in the Lord,
