"God's Acceptance is all You Need"
“The Lord is my light and my salvation; I will fear no one. The Lord protects me from all danger; I will never be afraid.” Psalm 27: 1 TEV
The fear of rejection is based on two things:
First, we all need to be loved. That’s a fact. We desperately need massive doses of love in our lives to be healthy individuals. God says, “I want to love you.” God is love and He knows you need to be loved and how to love you.
Second, we develop the false idea that our need to be loved is solely dependent upon a person or a group of people. Whenever you think either of those can meet your need for love, you’re asking for trouble. At some point, you’re going to be hurt and it’s probably going to hurt badly.
So, the first step in overcoming the fear of rejection is to put God before all other things. He’s the only one who can ultimately meet all your needs. Does He do it through people?
Yes, of course He does. Does He want us to love others? Yes, without reservation. Does He want to use us as channels of love? Absolutely!
But He doesn’t want us to be misled either. You will never have all of your needs met by a person or a group of people. He didn’t plan it that way. People don’t have enough love to meet all the needs of other people.
Human love is limited; it’s conditional. God’s love is unlimited and unconditional. No matter how deep your need, He can fill it.
Our verse today reminds us that when we look to God all of our needs will be met and we don’t need to be afraid. Without reservation, we can proclaim that God loves us. If somebody else doesn’t we can just say, “God loves me and if you don’t like me, that’s your problem!”
When you do what pleases God it simplifies your life. If you’re doing what He wants you to do you’ll know it’s always going to be right.
Peace in the Lord,
