"Satan Wants Isolated Believers"

“Encourage one another…so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.”  Hebrews 3: 13 NIV

Being part of the family of faith aids you in remaining faithful.  Gathered together, sharing in life and being supported by one another is a great encouragement to the faith.

None of us are immune to temptation.  Given the right situation, you and I are capable of any sin.  God knows this, so He joined us together in congregations as a help.

As our verse for today says, one of the things we do is encourage one another daily.  That telephone call to a friend; the note you receive in the mail or the time you run into each other at Wegman’s are meant to be a way of encouraging one another, when you share that faith.

But it’s also important that we pay attention to who is and isn’t at worship on a weekend.  Because relationships develop between us as we worship, we need to be aware of who’s absent so that if they need encouragement we might give it.

James says it this way, “If you know people who have wandered off from God’s truth, don’t write them off.  Go after them.  Get them back.”  James 5: 19 MSG

Another aspect of being part of the body of Christ here is it gives us some spiritual protection, especially if we’re leaders.  As Pastor I try to exercise some of that protection but we each offer it to one another as we pray for each other.

Satan loves detached believers, especially those unplugged from the life of the body, isolated from God’s family and unaccountable to spiritual leaders.  He loves them because He knows they are defenseless and powerless against his tactics.  Don’t take the risk, be part of the body.

Peace in the Lord,

Pastor Don
