"If You Want to Change,
Face the Truth"

“Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from Him …”  Ephesians 4: 21 NLT

A lot of people think that the secret to change is personal will power.  Highly overrated; frequently fails.  The secret to change is to know and face the truth about yourself.  Nothing will change in your life until you do that.

So where do you find the truth?  Jesus tells us, “ I am the way, the truth and the life…”  Why do we need to learn the truth before we can change?  Behind every self-defeating habit in your life is a lie that we believe.

People who are in debt believed the lie that they could spend as much as they want or they’ll be able to pay it back.  You might have thought about how much you’re going to earn someday but then the job doesn’t come through.

Oftentimes, the things we tell ourselves aren’t truths, they’re hopes.  A truth is something you can prove.  Jesus tells us that He is the truth and His Word is the truth.  When you read the Bible you see exactly what He’s saying and you can believe it.

We tend to turn to TV or other books to get a hold on what we want to do.  They’re not always true.  Just think about how many times you’ve been told something is bad for you and you stopped eating it or doing it.  Then a new study said exactly the opposite.  It can be so confusing.

God’s Word always speaks the truth.  It says we’re sinners and we need saving.  The truth is Jesus came to do that and we are saved, if we believe in Him.  There’s no confusion there!

Peace in the Lord,

Pastor Don
