"Remember: You're Not Home Yet!"
“For we fix our attention, not on things that are seen, but on things that are unseen. What can be seen lasts only for a time, but what cannot be seen lasts forever.” 2 Corinthians 4: 18 TEV
As you strive to reach the goals that God has given you it’s important to remember one thing: life on earth is only temporary. It’s practice for the big show. If you can remember this it will impact your values and fix your attention on things that are eternally important.
A lot of people think when they talk about God’s purpose and goals for their life it means whether they’ll become rich or famous. That’s not really a big deal to God. He promises abundant life but not the way we understand it. It’s not about how much you get or important you become. Those are all temporary things.
Never focus on the temporary. Paul was faithful yet he was a jailbird. John was faithful; he landed up beheaded. There are millions of very faithful people throughout the ages who have been martyred for Jesus.
So what does God want us to focus on? He wants us to focus on heaven. That’s the big joy for all of us. It’s what makes living here in this world for Christ worthwhile.
Just remember when things aren’t working out here as you thought, you’re not home yet. At death, you won’t leave home, you’ll go home.
Peace in the Lord,
