"Shortcuts Will Often
Get You Off-Track"

“Listen carefully to my words.  Don’t lose sight of them.  Let them penetrate deep into your heart, for they bring life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body.”  Proverbs 4: 20b – 22 NLT

One of the pitfalls we all face is being tempted by shortcuts.  We think they’ll make things easier, while in truth, they can mislead us or get us off-track.  The shortcuts may be moral, ethical, spiritual, financial or even relational.

But the one truth they share is that they will distract you from what God wants you to do with your life.  They’ll eat up the resources of time, energy, resources and creativity so that when you clearly hear God, you won’t have anything left to give.

Here’s the truth:  shortcuts are often short-sighted. We think of them as the easy way to do what God wants us to do or avoiding what we don’t want to do.  A lot of times they’re the most convenient thing in front of us and we just do it.  That’s not what God wants.

He wants us to listen carefully to Him and follow His directions, even when it looks like it might take a long time to accomplish it.

Peace in the Lord,
