"What's Your Verdict?"
“What shall I do, then, with the one you call the ‘King of the Jews?’ Pilate asked them.” Mark 15: 12
Most of us are familiar with the terms B.C. and A.D. The common understanding of B.C. was "Before Christ." The A.D. comes from a Latin words “Anno Domini” which is translated "in the year of the Lord." So time has been measured in relationship to Jesus Christ.
There has been a move to replace those terms with the terms B.C.E. and C.E. which is Before Common Era and Common Era. It’s kind of intriguing because it still uses Jesus as the dividing point, but without acknowledging Him.
So what does this mean to us today? In one sense, belief in Jesus Christ is being challenged. We have to make a decision. Will we mark our life in relationship to Jesus, acknowledging Him or will we try to hide the fact that Jesus was involved by using some other terminology?
Whichever you choose, you still have to deal with the issue of Jesus Christ. Was Jesus who He said He was? If He truly was the Savior of the world, when will you start following Him?
So, like Pilate, you are also in the place of the judge. Pilate asks the High Priest and the crowd, “What shall I do then with this Jesus who is called the Christ?” Condemn Him or worship Him?
What do you want to do with Jesus the Christ? This is a good time of year to answer that question. You’re most welcome to worship with us on Easter, so that you can really meet Him if you don’t know Him.
Peace in the Lord,
