"Begin the Healing: Tell It to the Lord"
“He has made my skin and flesh grow old. He has broken my bones. He’s besieged and surrounded me with anguish and distress. He has buried me in a dark place, like those long dead…and although I cry and shout He has shut out my prayers.” Lamentation 3: 4 – 6, 8 NLT
We all go through those times when life seems like it’s falling apart. A job loss, a relationship fails, someone dies or our health takes a turn for the worse.
In those times, we’re tempted to think God has abandoned us. He hasn’t. Jeremiah’s world was falling down around him, everything was in a tailspin, he kept on asking God to help without hearing an answer.
Does it surprise you that the Bible contains words like this? Jeremiah felt that God had forgotten Him. But he didn’t ignore or stuff his feelings. For the next five chapters he would pour out his hurts.
Why include such things? To remind you God wants to hear your hurts. He can handle your anger, hurts, gripes and anything else you feel. Rather than swallowing your emotions and making yourself ill, pour them out.
God won’t love you any less. He loves you as much as He will ever love you. He doesn’t owe you an explanation but He is never afraid of what you have to say to Him.
So tell Him. It will be the beginning of healing.
Peace in the Lord,
