"Don't Be Afraid!"
“Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect me and comfort me.” Psalm 23: 4 NLT
What are the things you’re worried about? Health? Bills? Kids? Future? There are lots of things and reasons to be afraid in today’s world. God promises no matter what is in front of you, He is walking beside you.
If you search an online concordance for the words “fear not” you’ll find there are 365 verses in the Bible that contain that phrase. So God has prepared a message a day for you.
Do you think He’s trying to tell you something? Think about the first words out of the angels mouths. Consider that when God meets everybody else the first words are, “Fear not” or “Don’t be afraid.”
Why does God have to tell us not to be afraid? Because there’s something in us that causes us to think that God is out to get us. We think He wants to condemn and punish us. That simply is not true.
Jesus says God is love. Love doesn’t want to punish you. When we understand God’s grace and mercy, then we have no need to fear the future. He’s not trying to get even with us. He’s actually trying to even us up so that we can come and live with Him.
So when bad things happen don’t think that God is out to get you. They just happen in this world. But no matter how dark the valley you’re walking through, remember you don’t need to be afraid. God’s there with you and He’ll guide and protect you and comfort you all the way.
Peace in the Lord,
