"Give Yourself Away in Love"
“Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other.”
Romans 12: 9 – 10 NLT
If you want lasting change in your life, fill your life with love. Love is the only power in the world that can change the unchangeable.
It invigorates, revitalizes, renews, refreshes and is the most powerful force in the universe. The reason for that is quite simple. God is love. So what I’m really saying is fill your life with God.
It’s love that allows you to celebrate with others when they have wins in their lives. It takes away your selfishness and envy. It lets you want the best for everyone.
Have you ever noticed that when somebody needs help you’re drawn to help them? There’s a reason for that. God wired you so that when you help other people, God takes care of your problems. It’s not, “God helps those who help themselves,” but God helps those who help others.
Remember how in the story of Job he lost everything. Yet, at the end of the book, we know that God gives it all back to him. Was it because Job asked for it back or had been really good? No, not at all. In Job 42:10 we hear, “After Job had prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his fortunes and gave him twice as much as he had before.”
God created us to live in community. He gave us love to help make that community and sustain it. When you use that love in that way you are both blessed and a blessing.
Peace in the Lord,
