"Betrayal & Injustice: One Day Until I die"
“Then Jesus told them, this very night you will all fall away on account of me, for it is written, ‘I will strike the shepherd and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’” Matthew 26: 31
This day is full; chock full of conflict; full of betrayal and full of injustice.
Jesus will eat the Passover meal with His disciples. He will go to the garden and there pray to His Father that the cup might be removed. He willingly submits in obedience to His Father. His Father's will shall prevail. From that point on things will happen quickly.
He’ll be betrayed by Judas, arrested, tried before an illegal court, denied by Peter and then taken to Pilate. Pilate will half-heartedly seek to set him free; then hand Him over to the guards.
He will be whipped, beaten and mocked by them; then returned to Pilate, who will again seek to let him go, but fail. He will then sentence Him to death. Why are we surprised? It's the continuing story of man’s inhumanity to man.
God has a plan also. By Jesus' death He will pay for the sins of all mankind. He does this so that He can save people. We find it hard to accept that He had to die for us. We like to think someone else is at fault for His death.
He has only one more day to live. What would you do if you only had one day to live?
Peace in the Lord,
