"Holy Monday - Five Days Until I Die!"
****Don’t miss the important information about our Good Friday Prayer Vigil at the end of this email!****
“Jesus said to them, ‘Have you never read in the Scriptures:
The stone the builders rejected
has become the capstone;
the Lord has done this,
and it is marvelous in our eyes.'” Matthew 21: 14
Jesus has made His triumphant entry into Jerusalem, welcomed by the crowds. People have sung their praises, laid their coats and branches on the road as He entered town.
Going to the temple, He became upset that God’s place for prayer had been turned into a marketplace. It was to be a place for those who don’t know Him to meet His Father.
Throwing over the tables of the money changers; driving out those selling animals added to His entrance into Jerusalem. Then, He went back to Bethany, the village where He had raised Lazarus from the dead.
On Monday morning he would again return to the temple. Along the way he will do one of the few negative miracles in scripture, cursing the fig tree that is barren.
What do you do when you only have five days left to live? Jesus heads towards the temple courts. He will spend His last days alive, teaching the crowds that come to Him and eating with his disciples.
What would you do if you knew you only had five days to live?
Peace in the Lord,
