"Change Requires Honest Community"

“Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from Him, throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception.”
Ephesians 4: 21 – 22 NLT

To change the defects in your life you have to have people in your life who will tell you the truth.  If your life is in a shambles, it’s likely that your friend’s lives may be just as chaotic.

You’re going to need other people in your life, people who are mature in the faith, who will support and encourage you.  Change requires honest community.

Paul reminds us that sharing our burdens lightens the load.  Without sharing, they’ll likely weigh us down.  In a growth group, we develop friends and friendships; we can also develop honest community.

Unsure if you belong?  Here’s good news for you:  if you’re a believer, you’re a “belonger.”  You’re part of the family of God.  Afraid you’re not perfect?  Neither are any of us.

If you’re serious about changing the hang ups and defects in your life, you’re going to have to face the fear of being honest.  You’ve got to stop putting on that happy face and faking it.

Put away falsehood.  Get real!  That’s how you get healed when you’re real with God and someone else.

Peace in the Lord,

Pastor Don
